Can prenatal vitamins be harmful in some pregnancies?

26-year-old woman3 years ago
Last May, I was 8 weeks pregnant. I started taking my prenatal vitamins (preg-vite) and miscarried two days later. My pregnancy seemed to be going well before the vitamins. This was my first pregnancy. I wonder if my vitamins could have been the trigger for my miscarriage or if it was just a coincidence.

Good evening,
I am sorry for your loss.
All multivitamins are equivalent and are recommended. It is even recommended to start them prenatally to ensure an adequate supply, especially of the folic acid component.

If I have been taking folic acid supplements since my miscarriage in anticipation of my next pregnancy, is that enough or do I need to start the vitamins again. I just found out I am pregnant again and I am afraid to start taking my vitamins again

Congratulations on your pregnancy. Folic acid is the most essential compound in a multivitamin to minimize the risk of neural tube defects. It's a good thing you've been taking it.
What dose are you taking? Are you taking medication regularly?

I take one 1mg tablet every day. I do not take any other medication.

It's good.
Hoping it will be useful, I wish you a good evening.
