my 5 year old sleeps about 11 hours a night, very good night's sleep! i find that he doesn't necessarily get enough rest. sometimes he should take an afternoon nap, but doesn't want to, but it would help him a lot! ... what would your advice be? would melatonin be effective you think?

Hello,
Here is the suggested number of hours of sleep for a child: https://douglas.research.mcgill.ca/fr/sommeil-et-enfant-donnees-scientifiques
Your child seems to be getting enough sleep for his age.
Is he at school?
Have you tried to get him to nap? If so, is he sleeping?
Sometimes the problem with naps is that the child is difficult to get to bed at night.
Moreover, melatonin is secreted by the body when it is dark. Exogenous melatonin is not recommended in this situation.

Yes exactly he goes to school.
when it comes to naps, he refuses to take them, so we offer him relaxation... but he always ends up doing something else relaxing earlier than sleeping. He fights his sleep so much. So we have to deal with the crisis because of fatigue

I understand.
Does he manage to nap on the weekends?

No he still refuses it... but this week is the first full week of school. Maybe with the accumulated fatigue that the next weekend he will sleep... so you think that melatonin would not help in his case?

You say he already sleeps 11 hours at night, so he already sleeps very well at night.
