Latuda makes me very drowsy. What can I do to reduce this side effect?

Hello, I am currently taking Latuda 40 mg for the past two weeks, after being on 20 mg for about 6-8 weeks. According to my psychiatrist's prescription, since 40 mg is not providing any benefit, I should increase to 60 mg soon (and if I don't respond to 60 mg, I am allowed to increase to 80 mg). My problem is that between 1 to 2 hours after taking the Latuda (at dinner), I am very drowsy and just want to sleep. I can't take care of my son anymore. So I am afraid to increase to 60 mg because of the drowsiness effect which I assume will be even greater at 60 mg than at 40 mg (it is greater at 40 mg than at 20 mg). I know that Latuda must be taken with a meal (300 calories) in order to be effective. Eating later is difficult in the routine (I already eat at 6pm). Can I still take the Latuda with a snack (soft bar) only, so I can take it later? Or will this diminish the effects of the medication too much? Or do you have a suggestion that I can increase to 60 mg without being too affected by drowsiness? Thank you very much, I really appreciate your help!

As you have described, Latuda taken with food (300-350 calories) is more effective. However, your context must also be taken into account. You could take the medication later in the evening if the drowsiness prevents your normal activities. The dose may need to be adjusted accordingly. Your pharmacist may follow up with you 2-3 weeks after the change in dose and/or schedule to check for effectiveness and tolerance. Also be aware that drowsiness is usually more pronounced in the days/weeks following a dose increase, and that it subsides over time in most people.
