Hello, I am a TES in an elementary school and I have a question regarding one of our students.
He is a 9 year old boy who was taking 2mg of Intuniv since 2019 to help him manage his impulsivity. However, he stopped overnight, under the pretext that his parents unfortunately had no more money for this expensive medication. However, quickly, within days, the boy's behaviors changed (regression in acting, more irritated, difficulty concentrating, etc).
Is it dangerous to have stopped this medication quickly like this for him? What do you recommend? Thank you!

Hello, thank you for your question!
Indeed, it is absolutely necessary to avoid stopping the Intuniv XR abruptly because not only can we lose control of the child's symptoms but also the abrupt stop can cause hypertension..
I strongly suggest that you redirect your question to the child's parents so that they can contact the pharmacy to evaluate other options for the child
I hope this has been helpful to you, and if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me
