How long is a prescription from my doctor valid?

I have a prescription from my doctor that is dated May 2019. It has never been used. It is a prescription for folic acids.

Hello,
It depends on how the renewals were indicated. If the prescription has no renewal: it is valid for 2 years, same thing if it is renewable Rx2, 6, 12 or 24 (in short a number). On the other hand, if it is renewable in duration: R x3 months, 6 months or 12 months, it is no longer good because it is the duration since the writing that counts.
I hope this answers your question.

Okay, but I don't think you need a prescription for folic acid. Is this correct? Thanks

In fact, folic acid can be purchased without a prescription. Your pharmacist can also write you a prescription. The difference is that if it is on prescription it can be submitted to your insurance.
