I have polycystic ovarian syndrome and I have to take estradot patches.

I have adenofibromas in my breasts and I was wondering if it was ok to take estradot? I am 28 years old and I don't have any particular health problem except polycistic ovaries and adenofibromas.

Hello ma'am,
Before I answer your question, I would need a little more detail.
What kind of breast adenofibroma do you have and have you had a biopsy to identify its nature?
Although benign, there are several types of adenofibromas. Simple adenofibromas, which are composed of fibrous tissue, are not associated with an increased risk of breast cancer in most women.
However, there are also complex adenofibromas, where there are several proliferative changes, and in some cases (family history of breast cancer) , may be associated with a slightly higher risk of breast cancer and where estrogen use should be done with caution.
I am still waiting for more details to provide you with a more satisfactory answer :)

Hello, I don't know if it is simple or complex. I had a breast ultrasound done but was not told if it was simple or complex only to do a follow up ultrasound again to see if everything stays Stable.
What is the difference between simple and complex?
Thank you

Is it with a biopsy that we define its nature?

Hello Mrs,
Effectively, it is with the help of a biopsy that we can confirm the etiology and type of adenofibroma.
Before initiating hormonal treatments, I would then advise you to refer to the doctor who is in charge of your follow-up in order to validate the type of adenofibroma you have, and to evaluate your risk of breast cancer (family history and complexity of adenofibromas).
I remain available for any other questions.
