After a 5 week miscarriage, can my next period be later than usual? Thank you for your help!

On Sept. 30, I had a miscarriage (first time in my life) of 5 weeks and I had a normal period. I am 41 years old and we are trying for a 2nd child. No health concerns since then besides a good cold. However, I am 2 days late in my current cycle and I don't feel any symptoms of pregnancy. Could my cycle be out of whack following this 5 week miscarriage? Before I go buy a pregnancy test again. Thank you for your help!

Hello,
Yes, it is possible to wait until the pregnancy hormone bHCG is eliminated. Has it been suggested that you wait one cycle before trying again?

No, because I did not see a doctor at the walk-in. My family doctor is on maternity leave and if I am sick I have to go to the walk-in. Do I have to see a doctor in these cases even if everything is fine?

No, if you feel well.
If the spotting becomes very
abundant, more than a menstrual period, with a bleeding tendency, or if you have a fever or smelly parts that suggest an infection, there is no need to consult a doctor
if the spotting becomes very heavy, more than a menstrual period, with a tendency to bleed, or if you have a fever or a smelly discharge that suggests an infection, there is no need to consult a doctor. It's already been a month, so you should be fine.
