Dog bite?

30-year-old woman3 years ago
Hello, I'm looking after a friend's dog, she is unreachable for a week. He bit me and I don't know if he is vaccinated against rabies. I'm a little hypochondriac. He's a house dog normally but they stay in the country and they stay outside while they're away. Is there a risk that I could get rabies, or is it eradicated in Quebec? Do I have to go to the hospital? Thank you very much!

Hello, thank you for your question!
A dog bite must be quickly evaluated by a doctor, because the mouth can contain quite virulent pathogens. Also, the doctor will assess the need for rabies and tetanus vaccinations, among others. The important thing is to get there as soon as possible.
