Hello ma'am,
Good news: since January 2021, the pharmacist can prescribe a contraceptive method to women (including the birth control pill), all depending on their personal characteristics, health problems and other medications. Thus, if you come to your community pharmacy, the pharmacist will give you a free comprehensive assessment that will lead, if deemed appropriate, to a prescription for you. The contraceptive may be prescribed for 6 months. If, beyond those 6 months, you cannot get a prescription from a doctor, he or she can re-prescribe it for another 6 months(so, the pharmacist can prescribe hormonal birth control for a maximum of 12 months). Beyond that 12 months, you will need a medical evaluation to continue your birth control. 💊
I hope this helps you get the best care possible! Please feel free to contact us with any other questions! 😊
