Hello, I recently (3 weeks ago) had surgery to correct my scoliosis. Since then, I have been losing my hair a lot, is this normal?

During the operation I lost a lot of blood. My hemoglobin went down to 60. I received a blood transfusion and 2 IV iron transfusions. After that, my hemoglobin went up to 93 (2 weeks ago, that was the last time I took a blood test). I'm losing my hair by handfuls and I'm afraid to lose it all. According to you, is this normal and after how long will I stop losing them. What should I do? Thank you

Hello,
Significant blood loss that leads to a drop in blood iron levels can cause noticeable hair loss. In addition, physical/emotional stress can also be a likely cause. Therefore, your recent medical problems may explain your symptoms. Do you have a medical follow-up scheduled soon? I encourage you to talk to your doctor. In addition, it will be important to follow up to make sure that your blood iron level has returned to normal and that your hemoglobin has also returned to normal. Normally, afterwards, everything should return to normal and the hair should grow back
