Hello. I have had an intense sore throat for 3 days. I have difficulty swallowing and my 18 month old daughter is on antibiotics for strep throat.

Hello, thank you for your question!
I'm sorry to read about your troubles :(
Your best solution is a combination of the following:
  • Take acetaminophen (Tylenol and other companies), 2 x 500mg tablets 3 to 4 times a day, minimum 4 hours apart (unless you have a contraindication to its use)
  • Ricola and Fisherman's Friend lozenges are safe during pregnancy and can provide local relief. I personally prefer Fisherman's Friend because it does not contain sugar
  • Drink plenty of fluids, cold or hot, as you prefer
If symptoms persist beyond 7 days, or worsen, or are accompanied by a fever, you should consult a physician.
I am available if you have any further questions!
