Loss of smell and taste after COVID?

28-year-old woman3 years ago
Hello, I had covid in December 2020. I still have not completely recovered my taste and smell. Since a few days I have numbness on a small part of my tongue as if I was coming out of the dentist, it lasts a few seconds but it happens several times a day. In the meantime the sensation remains different on the right side of my tongue.

Hello, thank you for your question! I'm sorry to read about your troubles :(
Would you be able to identify the time period or a triggering event for this numbness? A food, for example?

Hello,
Thank you for your quick answer
No, no triggering event. I don't have any food allergies, I didn't bite myself, I really have no idea what is causing this numbness.

Thank you for the information. However I unfortunately do not have an answer for you. I have found some instances where they try to reintroduce certain foods that have particular tastes and smells, in order to "exercise" the structures that are lacking... I must refer you to your doctor, this is beyond the scope of practice of the pharmacy.
Sincerely
Tom Samaha, pharmacist
