I have problems with stomach acid. Is lemon juice, one tablespoon before the meal, recommended?

If not, what natural product or over the counter medication would you recommend? Thank you for the follow-up. Sant5 : scleroderma

Hello there,
Lemon juice is actually quite acidic. In this context, it is suggested that you avoid acidic foods, such as tomatoes or soft drinks. You can also avoid fatty foods (e.g. fried foods); eat small meals more frequently (five to six times a day); avoid foods that aggravate symptoms (without eliminating entire food groups from your diet without consulting a health care professional); avoid drinking alcohol; and avoid caffeine consumption (coffee, tea, chocolate)
Avoiding lying down right after a meal, quitting smoking, managing stress and achieving a healthy weight can also be helpful.
There are also over-the-counter medications available if these methods do not work. Come and see us at the pharmacy so that we can better advise you on this matter!
We hope to have answered your question,
Stéphane Villeneuve, pharmacist
