Mucus in my 16-month-old daughter's stool for more than 2 weeks

Hi, I have a 16 month old baby. A month ago she caught a stomach bug at daycare. At that time she only threw up once. However, my spouse and I have been sick ++. My daughter has had diarrhea for the past two weeks which has caused her to have irritation +++ a/n her buttocks. She was having 4-8 bowel movements a day (very soft consistency with a little liquid on occasion), with mucus. No blood, fever. Eats well, drinks well, sleeps well (except when she has a stool at night). I went to the doctor last Monday. She told me that she was probably temporarily lactose intolerant following her gastro. So I am giving her lactose free milk for the moment and no other dairy products. I don't give her anything that could increase her stool (ex: berries) and I give her rice, potatoes and pasta. His situation has improved a bit in terms of the quantity of stools per day (about 3-4, his average being 2-3 stools but more consistent). However, his stools are still very soft with mucus. I don't know what to do... should I reconsult?

Hello, thank you for your question!
You seem to be doing everything that is recommended
The presence of mucus may indicate some inflammation but it does not mean that there is another problem
If you have stopped giving her lactose containing products, we should be able to assess this after max 1 week
That being said, if the situation persists, I would suggest that you consult the doctor again
Sincerely

Thank you for your answer. Could it be that teething is causing this?

Indeed, your baby's "uncomfortable" condition could also cause this. If your child seems to be complaining of mouth pain, acetaminophen is the best option. Your pharmacist will be able to tell you what dose to give depending on your child's weight and the concentration of the product you choose.
I hope this helps, but don't hesitate if there is anything you need!
