Will you be able to give me Ritalin with a prescription from a network clinic or a walk-in doctor?

Hello. I have 2 children who are ADHD and take Ritalin. We are planning to move to Quebec, so we won't have a specialist doctor (neuropediatrician, neuropsychologist) for a while.

Hello,
To obtain Ritalin for your children, they must obtain a prescription from a physician canadian authorized to prescribe this type of medication. A family doctor or pediatrician can usually prescribe it, although they may prefer to refer them to a neuropediatrician or other professional
I hope this information will be useful to you. Please feel free to contact me again with any other questions! 😊

Hello,
Thank you for your answer.
At the moment, we don't have a family doctor, as we are still in France, but I was told that it takes years to find one, or to be really lucky.
Can you tell me if the doctors in the network clinics, without an appointment, can prescribe it? Because there is a one year wait before having a follow-up by a neuropediatrician
Thank you again and have a nice day

Usually, yes, physicians in walk-in clinics or teleconsultation platforms (e.g. Bonjour Santé, Maple, Dialogue) can prescribe this type of medication based on their clinical judgment and medical assessment.
I hope this information answers your questions! Please feel free to contact me again if needed. 😊
Have a nice day!

Hello,
Thank you for your answer. I am surprised because even teleconsultation platforms can prescribe them, in France it is so regulated.
I have another question and I won't bother you anymore. Can you tell me the price of a box of Ritalin 10mg and if it is covered by the RAMQ?
Thank you again for your help,
Have a nice day.

If your child is 0-25 years old and meets certain criteria, there may be no cost for the medication. It is hard to predict exactly what the price of Ritalin will be for your child since many criteria can be taken into account.
For more information, I invite you to visit this section of the RAMQ which explains in detail the amounts to pay for medication in Quebec.
I hope you find this information useful! 😊
Have a nice day,
