Is it possible to take tylenol as a "preventative" measure, even before having side effects, without affecting the effectiveness of the vaccine?

Hi, my boyfriend was told when he was given his 2nd dose of the Covid vaccine that he could take tylenol to prevent side effects.

Small clarification: I am obviously talking about taking tylenol after the vaccine and not before the injection.

Hello, thank you for your question!
Taking Tylenol (acetaminophen), before OR after the injection, will not affect the effectiveness of the vaccine, but may help to improve comfort following the injection
It can be taken as a preventive measure for 1 to 2 days, following the manufacturer's or pharmacist's instructions
I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
