What to take for nausea during pregnancy?

22-year-old woman3 years ago
Hello, I have just started having nausea and I am 13 weeks pregnant. Since the beginning of my pregnancy, I have had some small heartaches sometimes, and I was taking ginger gravols to chew. Someone told me that it is not good to take gravols during pregnancy?

Hello Mrs., congratulations on your pregnancy! :)
You are indeed in the right place to ask this kind of question. I want to correct what 'someone' might have told you about Gravol: It is proven effective and safe in all trimesters of pregnancy. This applies to dimenhydrinate, the original Gravol, and Gravol Ginger.
There are also other options to relieve nausea during pregnancy, and your pharmacist can prescribe them after a short consultation with him or her.
In the meantime, here are some non-pharmacological measures that can help reduce the extent and frequency of nausea
  • Decrease the size of your meals, eat smaller portions more often during the day.
  • Same with liquids: drink smaller amounts more often.
  • Avoid very fatty and acidic foods, as well as foods high in sugars.
I hope this has been helpful and reassuring, and I am available if you have any further questions!
