What is the recommended dose for paxil or paroxetine? I have been taking it for 15 years and I wonder if my anxiety would be more controlled at 20 mg.

Good morning, sir, There is really no "recommended" dose of Paxil to take for anxiety. Or if you prefer, the recommended dose is the one that allows you to feel well at that level (as long as it doesn't exceed 40 to 60 mg per day). It is possible that going from 15 to 20mg may improve your symptoms. It's also possible that it could cause some pretty disturbing side effects (constipation, drowsiness, sexual dysfunction, etc.). The only way to know is (unfortunately) to try it, and wait 2-6 weeks before you see the full effect of the increased dose. You should know that more and more online services are appearing that allow people to benefit from cognitive behavioral therapy in a free and easy way. This therapy combines well with medication to help control anxiety. If you are interested, please let me know. Alexandre

Don't forget to discuss this with your doctor and pharmacist, so that your symptoms can be monitored as a team. We look forward to hearing from you, Alexandre
