Pantoprazole and scalp sensitivity: is it possible?

54-year-old woman5 years ago
Hello My ENT doctor prescribed Pantoprazole for 3 months. I have been taking it for almost 2 months. For some time, my scalp is very sensitive and I have a burning sensation. Could it cause these burning and itching sensations? Thank you

The risk that your symptoms are caused by your medication Pantoprazole is very low. Indeed, the medication, after being swallowed, is quickly concentrated in the digestive tract only. Looking at the monograph of the drug, itching is reported in 0.1% to 1% of people. However, since this did not occur at the beginning of the treatment and the symptoms are exclusively in the hair, this suggests that your symptoms are not allergic and therefore probably not caused by the drug

I invite you to look at the factors that are aggressive to your hair and that could be causing your symptoms, such as the use of perfumed shampoos, hair dyes or blow-drying. Otherwise, I invite you to consult your doctor if your symptoms persist and bother you
