Hello, I forgot a contraceptive pill and it's been more than 10 days and since my period doesn't stop. Is this normal?

Hello !
Thank you for your question!
Some women are more susceptible to forgetting than others. Which birth control pill is it? Where in your pack are you currently? Is this the first time this has happened to you? Are you taking your birth control pills continuously or do you stop every month?
This information will help me to better guide you
I look forward to hearing from you!

Hello, I take Alesse 28 every three months, so 3 packs continuously and then one week off! I am currently on the last pack of the 3 packs and it has been 2 weeks since my period stopped. It is not the first time that I forget, but before I had another stronger pill (Diane 35) and it did not cause me this problem. Also, I did a pregnancy test just to be on the safe side and I am not pregnant

Hello !
Thanks for the information!
It's possible that the body is more sensitive to forgetting, especially after a few packs. I suggest you stop for a few days now (5-7 days) and then resume continuous intake as usual afterwards. The important thing is to have taken at least 3 consecutive weeks before stopping. Since you are on your third pack and your period has started, I suggest that you start from scratch by stopping for a few days
I hope to have answered your question and I am available for more details if necessary!

Ok so if I understand correctly I stop my pack today and in about 5 days I start the same pack again as if I had never stopped?
Laurie Hudon Germain · 4 years ago
In fact, you stop today and in 5 to 7 days you can start again
When you start again, it will be for a minimum of 21 consecutive days, but you can then start again for 3 months as usual.
Is this clearer?

Yes, thank you for the advice
Since I took a pill yesterday from the new pack I have exactly 20 left. I wanted to know if this causes a problem since it is not 21, should I just buy a new one?
Laurie Hudon Germain · 4 years ago
In fact, the important thing is to do at least 21 days before stopping. So if you start the next pack after the 20 days without stopping, there will be no problem
The golden rule is this
  • Always a minimum of 21 days of pills before stopping
  • Never more than 7 days between 2 packs
Is it clearer this way? Don't hesitate if you need me to rephrase it!
