Can a pill get stuck in the secretions?

24-year-old woman2 years ago
I have secretions in my throat (feeling like a film blocking my throat and the descent to my digestive system). I wonder if when I took my contraceptive pill, it could have remained stuck in the secretions and not been assimilated by my body. Do I need to use double protection the next time I have sex?

Hi, thank you for your question!
Sometimes a pill can take a long time to get down to the stomach, just like food. However, anything that is in the esophagus will eventually make it to the stomach. To that end, if you have not forgotten to take your birth control pill, it is still effective and a second method of birth control is not necessary.
I hope that I have been of some help to you, and I remain available if you have any further questions
