I have itching in my vulva, it's not internal it's external and I'm starting to have white discharge but I don't have any burning or pimples. .... Can I take a medication like Canesten to treat a yeast infection if I give my baby breast milk?

Hello, the treatments available over the counter for yeast infections (or vaginitis) are compatible with breastfeeding. I recommend that you discuss this with your pharmacy who will be able to show you the different options available (cream, vaginal ovule, pill to be taken by mouth) according to your health record and your preferences. My only question would be: Is this the first time you've had a yeast infection?

yes it's the first time... is there any risk to take a medication like this without consulting me first

In fact, 50% of people who self-diagnose a yeast infection for the first time do not have this type of infection and have another problem (e.g. eczema, dermatitis, non-fungal infection, etc.). The risk of getting the wrong treatment is high, so it is usually recommended to consult a doctor to clarify the diagnosis. If you do take the risk of buying an over-the-counter treatment, be aware that no matter what formulation you choose, you should see an improvement after 48 to 72 hours. If this is not the case, you should consult a physician anyway.
