I often (at least 1x a day) have spasms in my eyes, eyelids and lips. I would like to know if this is normal.

Hello to you,
I have a few questions to clarify the situation.
1) Do you have pain in your eye? Is your field of vision affected? Have you noticed that you are more sensitive to light? Is your eye red or swollen?
2) When you talk about spasms, are they just sensations or can you see the spasm, for example if you stand in front of the mirror?
3) Have you noticed if there is any factor that is causing the spasms (e.g., fatigue, cigarette smoke, stress, coffee, alcohol, dry eyes, etc.)?
4) Is there a change in your life that may be related to the onset of symptoms?
5) Have you noticed any other symptoms besides the spasms?
In most cases, these little spasms are benign, I assure you. However, it is important to understand the situation by answering the questions above!
I look forward to hearing from you,

No I have no pain and yes I can see them. I work every day on computer screens and this may be a factor, as I don't take caffeine and I don't smoke, my nights are recuperative. Thank you for your reply

Hello again,
In this case, we can probably attribute these small spasms (which we can call "fasciculations") to fatigue. In the absence of other symptoms, and considering that you work in front of a computer screen, I have the impression that these spasms are benign
It is also mentioned that, in order to make these spasms disappear, one can try to voluntarily contract the muscles concerned, when they are at rest. I have not found any satisfactory study that really proves the effectiveness of this method, but I believe it is safe. So you could try it!
However, it would be interesting to talk to your doctor to determine if, for example, you are lacking in magnesium, or if the spasms are a reflection of another health problem.
In the meantime, I hope you have a great day!
I look forward to hearing from you,
Stéphane Villeneuve, pharmacist
