Hello Ma'am,
Raynaud's disease cannot be cured. Nevertheless, taking certain steps can improve the situation.
  • Do not smoke. Smoking causes blood vessels throughout the body to constrict and can trigger an attack.
  • Avoid caffeine consumption.
  • Cover up. Simply wearing gloves and warm socks is sometimes enough to prevent seizures in cold temperatures.
  • Avoid injury to feet and hands.
  • Avoid using tools and instruments that cause vibration.
  • Practice relaxation. If stress or strong emotions are causing symptoms, relaxation exercises can, in some cases, solve the problem.
  • Avoid the use of some over-the-counter medications, especially decongestants.
When symptoms occur, soak the affected body parts in lukewarm water.
If attacks are very frequent or last a long time, the doctor may prescribe a medication that will decrease the constriction of blood vessels. Several medications with different modes of action can be used and the choice is made based on the patient. Complementary approaches such as ginkgo biloba or acupuncture can also be considered.
Good day,
