My baby doesn't want to go to the potty

31-year-old woman3 years ago
My 3 year old boy is constipated (diaper/potty transition) he hasn't done anything in 7 days. I gave him some lax-a-day yesterday and today but still nothing. What can I give him to relieve him?

Hello Mrs.!
You have identified the problem, your child is holding back from going to the bathroom. This is a very common problem when trying to make the transition from diaper to potty..
In my experience, rewarding the child for going to the potty can seem like a good idea. I know the situation is quite unpleasant for you, but since your child is the one holding back, there is no need to give him any other medication.
You mentioned that he hasn't gone potty in 7 days. If there has been absolutely no bowel movement for 7 days, you should see your doctor quickly. If there have been tiny pieces, you'll just have to keep encouraging your baby, or leave him in the diaper for now. Maybe he is not ready yet.
Sincerely
