Child with red buttocks whose Zincofax does not seem to work. Is there a solution?

Hello, my two year old daughter is usually in cloth diapers. For more than a week, she has had red patches on her buttocks and vulva. I started with zincofax for a few days and then switched to canesten. I've been putting canesten in the morning and evening every day since Monday and it seems that some days it's not so bad and the next day it's still red. Do I have to be more patient before the cream takes effect (I saw that it can take up to 10 days) or should I go see the doctor?

Hello, what type of Zincofax do you have (Extra Strength, Original or Unscented) and do you continue to use it? Do you use other products on your child's buttocks? Also, is the redness also found in the folds of the skin (e.g.: interfessial fold, groin fold, folds of the lips of the vulva)?

The rash is in patches. One patch on one buttock and the other on the vulva. At the moment I don't use zincofax and I use canesten

Based on what you are describing, it sounds like your child has diaper rash, which is an inflammation of the skin caused by contact with feces and urine. The usual treatment for diaper rash is 40% zinc ointment, which is Zincofax extra strength (pink jar). For the product to be effective, the ointment should be applied after each diaper change to the rash and around the edges in a thick layer. Canesten is usually not required if the rash is not spread in the folds and outside the diaper boundaries, as there is no fungal infection. Moreover, this product does not provide a sufficiently protective layer to protect the skin from urine and stool, which is the cause of the redness. Regular or unscented Zincofax, which is 15% zinc oxide, can prevent diaper rash, but is less effective in treating it. I refer you to the Naître et Grandir website for more information and practical tips: https://naitreetgrandir.com/fr/mauxenfants/indexmaladiesa_z/fiche.aspx?doc=naitre-grandir-sante-bebe-fesse-rouge-erytheme-fessier#_Soins_et_conseils Finally, I advise you to go to your local pharmacy and show your child's patches to the pharmacist or take a picture of them in order to evaluate the situation. Indeed, it is difficult to evaluate a skin problem without seeing it
