Can depression and anxiety cause vomiting?

36-year-old woman3 years ago
Hi, I haven't thrown up in at least 10 years and now I'm throwing up twice in 3 weeks. Could this be related to my depression? Or to the increase of my pills? I take fluvoxamine and bupropion. After an emotional "crisis" 3 weeks ago, I saw a doctor and he switched me from 150mg bupropion to 300mg. 1st time I threw up I can't see any reason. Nothing special, new, etc. The 2nd time, it's true that I ate a good meal and especially late at 7pm (2 hours after my usual time) and that I had tried to wakeboard during the day, but didn't feel that tired. Is this a sign that the depression is getting worse? Because I didn't do it the first time. Or is it just not related? Thanks

Hello Madam!
It is indeed difficult to say what caused your vomiting. It is true that anxiety can cause nausea, and that fluvoxamine can cause it too, but especially at the beginning of therapy.
At first glance, I don't see any reason to worry about this, especially if it's temporary. However, if you see an increase in the frequency of your vomiting, without any other explanation, I recommend that you talk to your doctor
I hope I've been helpful, and please don't hesitate if you have any further questions!
