Is a heart rate of 60 beats per minute low?

59-year-old woman3 years ago
My 86 year old mother is concerned about dizziness that she gets when she gets up and a few times during the day if she rolls over quickly. She takes 3/4 of a tablet of Trazodone at bedtime. I have asked her about her blood pressure (I am at a distance), which is 122/76 and her heart rate is 60. She is under a lot of stress and is exhausted because of my father who has to be placed (it's late...) despite my sister's help. She is an anxious person by nature. She has already had at least 5 years ago, a medication because her heart was at 52 beats. But it caused more problems and was stopped. It had settled down again. She has a heart murmur and has a little angina (but nothing serious). Thank you for your advice. She doesn't want to talk to her doctor because he is retiring and she says he is not doing anything.

Hi, thanks for your question!
The heart rate of 60/minute is not worrisome as such, unless the 'normal' for your mother is much higher
Be aware, however, that fatigue, stress and anxiety can all cause dizziness, so it's hard to pinpoint the source based on your case description.
For now, however, it is important to stress about getting up slowly from a lying or sitting position.
If the problem persists, or gets worse, you will have to take charge and consult a doctor.
I hope this helps, and if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
