Am I in my week, or is the bleeding coming from something else?

I was in my week last week (January 27 to February 2), Sunday February 3, I had unprotected sex with my lover. Yesterday I took my contraceptive pill 1 hour in advance, because I could not take it on time, because I had a driving court. Except today I noticed that he just started bleeding again but I wonder if it's because I took my pill 1 hour early yesterday, so it creates a bleeding or if it's because I have a sexually transmitted infection because of unprotected sex?

Hello! To answer your question with more certainty, I would need a little more information. What contraceptive are you using? How long have you been using it? Have you had other episodes of bleeding during your cycle with this contraceptive? Is the bleeding heavy and accompanied by pain that is atypical for you? However, if you have no other symptoms and you can trust your boyfriend about his history of STIs, it is unlikely that it is an STI that is causing the bleeding. Have a nice day!

I have been taking the birth control pill alysena 28, for 1 year and 8 months. I have had bleeding before but it was occasional... not often but it could happen. The bleeding is not heavy at all, just a few traces of blood, no stomach ache, nothing.

Hello, with the information you are giving me, I think we can rule out STI's. It is possible that the bleeding is due to the hormone variation due to the delay in taking it, although I would not specifically rule out that period. Considering that Alysena is a low-dose estrogen contraceptive, many factors can lead to bleeding at any time. If it is very occasional, does not cause a problem and resolves, it is safe to continue. If it continues or is not occasional, you should consider changing your treatment option. Your pharmacist should be able to make a recommendation to your doctor based on your complete health status. Does this answer your question? Have a nice day!
