I am 22 weeks pregnant and have hyperemesis gravidarum. Is it safe to continue taking Zofran 4 mg at bedtime?

I started to get sick in the 8th week. At 13 weeks I went to the hospital because I was too weak and losing weight. I tried Diclectin and Raglan without success. I started taking Zofran at 6h at the 15th week. I gradually reduced it and since week 19 I only take one 4 mg tablet before bed. This week I tried twice not to take my medication and I vomited as soon as I woke up even if I eat during the night. I don't know where to turn and my doctor is concerned that there is not much information on Zofran in the second and third trimester.

Hello Ma'am,
You can sleep in peace (and without heartache) 😊.
The use of Zofran™ during pregnancy is becoming better documented, and an expert consensus from last year (AOGC, 2018, in the United States) mentions that in pregnant women who have not responded well to other agents (Diclectin™, Reglan™), Zofran™ should not be stopped if nausea is too severe. It is also recommended that pregnant women taking chemotherapy that causes a lot of nausea take Zofran™ when the protocol contains it.
Bref, in your situation the most important thing is that you and your baby continue to gain weight as expected.
Happy day,
