I am 6 weeks pregnant and my ears are plugged. Is there a connection? And is there anything I can do?

Hello,
It is difficult to say at this time if there is a connection between blocked ears and pregnancy. It is possible to have a blocked nose during pregnancy (called vasomotor rhinitis of pregnancy), but this problem usually occurs in the third trimester.
Do you have pain associated with your blocked ear?
Have you noticed that your hearing has decreased?
Is your nose blocked too?
Do you have any other symptoms?

Hello,
No, I don't have any pain in my ear. I can hear well, but like when you have a blocked ear when driving.
And I don't have a blocked nose either!
Thank you for your help!

According to what you describe to me, it sounds like secretions that are lodged in the internal ducts of the ears (Eustachian tubes). The presence of these secretions creates an imbalance of pressure between the inside of your ear and the outside. Again, it's hard to say if this is related to pregnancy at this point
The solution that is available to you and that seems adequate to me would be to try nasal douches (like Hydrasense or Sinus Rinse). In some cases, secretions can be dislodged from the ear through the nose.
Chewing gum may also help, but the effect is more modest. No drops that I know of that you could put in the ear would help with this problem
If the ear remains blocked after a few days of using intranasal solution, I suggest you talk to your doctor to see if it is a hormonal issue related to pregnancy
I hope that I have been able to answer your question. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
