a day

Hello! For several years now, in the morning or during the night, when I wake up, I start sneezing and running my nose... It's only when I wake up that it starts and it only stops when I go back to sleep or many minutes (sometimes even hours) after I wake up. It's always like this all year long! So I don't have a cold or anything like that and I breathe normally during the day. It's unpleasant, but I had learned to live with it over the years... however, since I'm in a relationship, it's a different story... I wake up more often and I sneeze every time, waking up my boyfriend. That's why I wanted to know what it was, if there was a way to stop it or something... I don't know anyone who has this problem and I wanted to ask a pharmacist before making an appointment with the doctor... thanks in advance!

I would like to point out that I have seasonal allergies, which I treat effectively with the antihistamine Aerius, and that during this period, my runny nose described above continues despite everything, which is why I don't suspect an allergy for my problem...

Although the pharmacist cannot make a diagnosis, I believe I can help you. First, the exact cause of the problem could be found by eliminating several potential causes in succession.

So, does it also do that when you don't sleep at home? Also, is it very hot, very cold, or very humid in your room?

As for the temperature, it is variable, it goes between 19 and 21 in winter and between 20 and 24 in summer

obviously these are approximations

I don't think it's really humid in my room either, especially since I share two residences (1 week - 1 week) and I have the same symptoms in both places

Thanks for the details. It could then be related to the fact that you are lying down, rather than the environment or the time of day. For my part, in this case, considering that an allergic cause is unlikely, I recommend that you go see a doctor. He may refer you to an ENT specialist to look at your sinuses. He or she can then rule out a physical problem.

Of course, there is no urgency to see a doctor, but considering the time it takes to see a doctor, you can start your steps right away.

If you want to help the doctor make a good diagnosis, do these two things and watch for your symptoms to return at these times:

1. At night, sound an alarm to wake you up, but do not lift your head. Stay lying down. Watch for your nose to start running anyway.

2. Take a nap during the day, somewhere other than your bed. When you wake up, watch for a runny nose.

This information will be very useful to the doctor. Hope to see you soon,
