My daughter has seasonal allergies?

My 9 year old daughter has seasonal allergies. She was taking Reactin but it is no longer working. We switched to Claritin. It's a little better, but she still has severe nasal congestion. Can I give her benadryl at night at bedtime in addition to her Claritin that she takes in the morning? Thanks in advance :)

Hello, thank you for your question!
Benadryl is not recommended for seasonal allergies due to its fairly common side effects and the availability of other options. For example, there is Aerius which could be tried, over the counter
There are also other products that can be added to the antihistamine
However, non-pharmacological measures such as nasal hygiene with saline water (Hydrasense, Sinus Rinse and others) should be applied as often as desired during the day. A change of clothing should also be made when she comes indoors, if she has been outside for a long time
It would be wise to avoid keeping windows open when the allergen index is high
Your pharmacist will be able to personalize the consultation according to your child's needs and your preferences
We hope this has helped you, and if you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!
