How do I wean my Ativan?

Hello, I want to wean myself off Ativan 0.5 mg that I have been taking for 6 months. I also take Sertraline 25 mg. Can I decrease the dose by taking 3/4 tablet for 7 days, 1/2 tablet for 7 days, 1/4 tablet for 7 days?

Hello ma'am, thank you for your question! There is no one recipe for weaning from Ativan The schedule you suggest is possible, but in general, the weaning is lengthened to decrease the dose every 10 to 14 days. Also, it may be that weaning completely is more difficult, so we decrease even more gradually towards the end (for example: sequence of 1/4 tablet 2 days then nothing on the 3rd day). If you wish, your pharmacist can make a schedule with you (and even cut the tablets for you if you have difficulties).
