I've had a cough and sore throat for 2 weeks?

Hello, I have had a sore throat for more than two weeks and I cough in the evening and at night. In the morning my voice is hoarse and my throat is even more sore (I can spit yellow on occasion). No other symptoms. Should I go and see a doctor? Because nothing is getting better. Thanks

Hello, thank you for your question, I'm sorry to read about your troubles!
If your sore throat and cough have persisted for 2 weeks, a medical evaluation is usually recommended
With that said, do you think these symptoms could be associated with seasonal allergies?
Let me explain: quite often, the sinuses leak into the back of the throat, and this can cause a hoarse voice and cough, which can then irritate the throat
If this is the case for you, one option would be nasal hygiene using a saline solution like Hydrasense or Sinus Rinse. This can be used as often as needed during the day and at least 30 minutes before bedtime.
An anti-histamine such as Aerius or Claritin could also be tried to reduce these symptoms.
I hope this has been helpful to you, and if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

I forgot to mention that my whole family has had this virus but I never got it. And I did the screening and it was negative but since then it hasn't gotten better. Since I don't have a runny or stuffy nose, I had excluded allergies! Thank you for your help

Thanks for the clarification!
It should be noted that some people may have coughing as virtually the only symptom of their allergies. This could be the case for you, considering that you report coughing mostly at night.

I wonder about my condition in general. I am not at my best. Sometimes in the morning I have yellow/green secretions that I spit out. The fact that I have difficulty swallowing and it is worse in the evening/night. Coughing. I was thinking that yes, allergies can cause discomfort but not affect the general state I guess. Now I feel sick and I can't fight it and get back on track. I thought it was a virus, but it doesn't go away.

In this case, I recommend that you consult a doctor, if only as a precaution.
