I wonder, is it better to start Visanne or another oral contraceptive? The side effects of Visanne seem to be bleeding.

Hello, I was prescribed Visanne for my endometriosis. I don't feel any symptoms of this disease except for spottings that last several days (which start 2 days after my period), and this, for 3 months.

Good morning, ma'am,
Are you taking Visanne continuously? Do you take it at the same time every day?

Hi, I haven't started anything yet. I was wondering if I should see the bleeding or if an oral contraceptive would be better

Thanks for the feedback!
Visanne has the official treatment indication for endometriosis but not for contraceptives.
People who take Visanne can usually see a decrease in their symptoms, including bleeding.
Keep in mind that Visanne can prevent ovulation but is not a hormonal contraceptive. Therefore, you will need to ensure an effective method of contraception (e.g., condoms).
I will be available if you have any further questions!

So it would have a positive effect on my bleeding. Are there any side effects to this medication?

Because they are spottings between periods....I didn't specify I think

The main side effects reported are nausea and headaches and breast tenderness in particular. These are rare and tend to diminish over time.
Many people will have few or no symptoms of endometriosis. However, it is a condition that can lead to complications related to a future pregnancy and an increased risk of cancer, according to some sources. It is best to discuss this with your doctor if you wish to consider alternatives.

You mean that endometriosis itself increases the risk of certain cancers?
