My child has a hard red ball that comes out of his anus when he has a bowel movement. Is this dangerous?

Since 3 months. He also has a little blood in his stool. Why does it come out and go in?

Good morning, ma'am,
Although the symptoms described seem to be similar to those that can accompany hemorrhoids, it is best to consult a doctor/physician for a complete evaluation of your child, especially since, according to the clinical presentation you are reporting, this has been going on for some time (3 months). It may be as benign as simple hemorrhoids, but to be sure, it's best to go through a full physical evaluation by a licensed professional. 😟
So I encourage you to make an appointment with your child's family doctor/physician, or check out the following website to find an appointment near you! πŸ₯
While waiting for an appointment, here are some steps that can be implemented:
  • Clean with water and mild, fragrance-free soap the buttocks and anus after each bowel movement;
  • Avoid pushing or touching the "red ball" that comes out of the anus, if any;
  • Encourage your child to maintain a "regular pattern" of bowel movements to prevent constipation from setting in and making things worse;
  • If discomfort or mild pain is present, administer Tylenol (acetaminophen) to your child in the appropriate dosage for his/her age and/or weight.
I hope this information helps! Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any other questions.
