Side effects with Methotrexate?

20-year-old woman3 years ago
Hello, I have been taking methotrexate for a little over a year to treat my psoriasis. About 3 months ago my dermatologist increased my dosage from 15 mg/week to 20 mg/week and I am noticing additional side effects. I am already taking these medications on two different days so I have less heart words/diarrhea. I have been losing my hair quite a bit since my medication was increased, I actually associate this hair loss with it but I have no idea if it should be associated.

Hello, thank you for your question!
Hair thinning or loss is a side effect associated with methotrexate. However, due to the sensitive nature of this medication and its effects on your body, it is impossible for me to help you better on this platform
I strongly suggest that you contact your pharmacist, where you receive your medication. It may be that an adjustment is needed (for example, in the folic acid, the dose of your medication, or other). He or she will be able to contact your doctor if necessary.
Sincerely
Tom Samaha, Pharmacist
