Bleeding after stopping the birth control pill?

29-year-old woman2 years ago
I have just stopped the contraceptive pill in order to have a child. I was taking it for more than 10 years (continuously and stopped every three months or so). When I stopped it (definitively), I obviously had my period which lasted 6 days. And a few days after the bleeding stopped, it started again a little. Enough to put a pad underneath and have a lot on my toilet paper when I go to the bathroom.

Hello, thank you for your question!
Although the situation may seem quite unpleasant, it does not necessarily indicate a problem. It may take some time to get back to normal, but it is quite common during hormonal changes, for example when stopping the contraceptive.
I hope this has put your mind at ease, and if you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
