Can I use boric acid during pregnancy?

30-year-old woman2 years ago
I had been advised to take boric acid in a vaginal capsule to prevent bacterial vaginosis. Repeated vaginosis and that's all that worked. Metronidazole etc works at first but after a few days it comes back. We are talking about recurrent vaginosis.

Good morning, ma'am,
The data regarding the safety of this product during pregnancy is not well established, so it is recommended that women taking it use effective contraception
I encourage you to speak with your pharmacist and physician as there are other options, both oral and topical, that may be suggested as alternatives. Your pharmacist will be in a better position to make a recommendation tailored to your needs, as he/she has all the necessary information.
Sincerely,
Tom Samaha, Pharmacist
