My one month old baby has been having trouble with bowel movements for three days. Is there anything we can give him to help?

We changed his milk more than two days ago because he had big cramps and was regurgitating a lot. He is now on the right formula (powder) and he doesn't squirm anymore and regurgitates much less. Otherwise, he is drinking very well (at least 30 oz a day), wetting his diapers and looking great. He just really looks like he's in pain every time he tries to poop.

Good evening ma'am,
Before thinking about introducing medication in these types of situations, we try to solve the problem with non-pharmacological measures, or if you prefer "good stuff that works well!"
I recently wrote an article in the Birth and Growth magazine that elaborates on tricks to use in order to help your child have a bowel movement. Have you tried all of these tips for at least 2 full days?

Hello,
yes, I had actually read your article before too 😉
I don't think we can talk about constipation right now sometimes since he still had at least one bowel movement a day and pretty soft (as usual actually)
so I guess it's better to wait a few more days?

Yes, it's best to wait.
Be aware that at this age, it's still common for a child to have difficulty controlling his sphincters. Sometimes he or she may strain to have a bowel movement and the anus simply won't open. This will make it seem like he is forcing and therefore possibly constipated, but this is not the case.
The best thing to do is to monitor the appearance of the stool. If the stools are soft and frequent (at least 1 to 3 per day), no need to worry :).
Good evening,
