How do I know if I have dementia?

52 -year-old man2 years ago
Memory problems causing me to stop working, chronic encephalitis and extreme fatigue. I take anti pain and diabetes 1.5. Chronic pain since 1989, following 2 accidents with tcc, fibromyalgia I'm waiting for a neuropsych exam, but more than 1 year waiting... how to know if it's not early alzheimer or other cognitive disorders

Hello Sir, sorry to read about your troubles!
Pain, lack of restful sleep and fatigue can cause memory problems or simply forget things that may be trivial.
If it's everyday things like the location of your keys or an appointment, it could be due to the factors listed above.
If, on the other hand, you forget things that are usually ingrained in your memory, such as important events in your life, people around you, or other things like your orientation, you really need to see a doctor for a thorough evaluation to identify possible causes.
Sincerely
