How can I make sure I'm hydrating my 6-week-old baby during hot weather? Can I give water? If so, how much?

Hello,
Here are the recommendations from the Department of Health and Human Services to prevent dehydration in children:
  • Feed your baby under 6 months of age more often, whether you are breastfeeding or formula feeding
  • Cool the skin with a wet towel several times a day. When going outside, it's convenient to bring water in an airtight container with washcloths to cool him or her
  • Place your child in a warm water bath or shower as often as needed.
  • Limit outdoor activities between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., which is the hottest time of day
  • If you must go outside, dress your child in light clothing and cover their head with a wide-brimmed hat.
