Question

Hello, I have had a canker sore for about 5 days, clearly visible at the back of the tongue in the oropharynx. I feel strong pain especially when swallowing and which radiates to the ear. What can you advise me to relieve me and to accelerate the healing? Thank you in advance! Thank you so much for these great tips!

Hello! First, I would do a salt water gargle (1/2 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup of warm water) for 30 seconds 4 times a day (after meals and at bedtime) to try to sanitize it and speed up the healing. To control pain, Tylenol or Advil can help with relief while the canker sore heals. If it ever in 3-4 days it continues to grow instead of shrinking I would maybe see a dentist to be sure! You can also eat cold things to ease the pain or melt ice just a little before eating to freeze locally so eating is less painful. Hopefully I have helped you, Happy evening! Marie-Michèle
