Thank you for your question. First, is your friend taking any medications on a regular basis? Sometimes there can be interactions with multivitamins. Also, is there a reason why your friend wants to take a vitamin supplement? Generally, food is sufficient to provide us with all the necessary nutrients, unless we have several dietary restrictions, such as not eating 3 meals a day or not consuming all the food groups. If there is an indication to take a multivitamin, the different products offered are generally: "regular" women's multivitamin & women's multivitamin 50+. For a 38 year old woman, the regular formula would most likely be sufficient. The difference in the 50+ formula is usually the amounts of certain vitamins and minerals that are recommended for the age group. This formulation is generally preferred after menopause only.
