Do I need to go to the doctor or even take a covid-19 test?

I have a sore left side of my throat. It hurts to swallow and has been going on for 24 hours. I don't have a fever. What can I do?

Hello,
In order to answer as accurately as possible, I need to validate some things.
Do you feel like it's burning in the back of your throat?
Do you feel like razor blades?
Do you have trouble feeding yourself?

No, none of these problems. This morning it's a little less worse. I feel like it's my nose that's a little stuffy and causing this pain.

Thanks for the clarification.
It sounds like viral pharyngitis to me. A visit to the doctor will be unnecessary in my opinion. The symptoms will last a few days and go away on their own not afterwards. In the meantime, using Tylenol or Advil tablets and lozenges can help make your symptoms more comfortable. Since you don't have a fever or cough, a COVID test doesn't seem necessary to me either.
I hope I have answered your question.
